EPT India is dedicated to environmental journalism that serves the public interest. Our reporting examines pollution, ecosystems, industrial impacts, climate change and the decisions that affect communities and natural resources.
Accuracy and evidence
We verify factual claims using relevant documents, credible research, direct reporting and other reliable sources. We distinguish allegations from established facts and explain uncertainty where the evidence is incomplete. Scientific findings and pollution measurements are presented with their dates, locations and limitations.
Fairness and right of reply
We seek responses from individuals, companies and public authorities facing substantive criticism or allegations. We give them a reasonable opportunity to respond and represent their explanations fairly. Where a response is unavailable at publication, we make that clear.
Editorial independence
Editorial decisions are guided by evidence, relevance and public interest. Advertising does not determine our findings or conclusions. Advertisements and sponsored material are clearly labelled, and relevant conflicts of interest are disclosed.
Sources and community voices
We attribute information wherever possible and give appropriate credit to original reporting, research and photographs. We consider requests for source confidentiality carefully and agree on the terms before relying on confidential information. Community testimony is treated with respect and assessed alongside other evidence.
News, opinion and solutions
News reporting is distinguished from opinion and commentary. Coverage of environmental solutions examines supporting evidence, practical limitations and measurable results. Corporate or government claims of environmental progress receive the same scrutiny as other factual claims.
Responsible use of technology
Automated tools and artificial intelligence may assist with discovering sources, translation and preparing drafts. They do not replace editorial judgment. Material prepared with their assistance must be checked by an editor before publication. We do not present generated quotations, invented sources or synthetic images as authentic reporting. Materially AI-generated content and illustrative imagery are clearly identified.
Corrections and accountability
We correct factual errors transparently and provide dated notes for substantive changes. Readers can request corrections or submit responses under our Corrections policy.
